Digital Nomad Residency is a visa program designed to allow remote workers to live and work in a specific country while performing their job for foreign employers or clients. This type of residency caters to individuals who embrace the digital nomad lifestyle, combining work and travel by leveraging technology.
A digital nomad is someone who works remotely while traveling or living in different locations, often relying on technology like laptops and internet connectivity to perform their job. This lifestyle allows them to have the freedom to explore new cultures, environments, and experiences while maintaining their professional responsibilities.
Digital nomads often work as freelancers, remote employees, or business owners in fields like writing, design, programming, marketing, or consulting. They might choose to stay in one place for months or move frequently, embracing the flexibility and adventure of their work-life balance.
The Digital Nomad Visa in Spain covers your spouse or partner, children under 18, and any other dependents. If you want to bring children over 18, you’ll need to show that they are financially dependent on you and don’t have their own family. For parents, you’ll need to prove they’re in your care.
Your successful application will allow dependents to live, study, or work in Spain. They can choose to work for a Spanish employer or continue their remote job from outside of Spain. This setup makes it easier for families to stay together while enjoying the benefits of living in spain .

There are two ways to apply for this visa:
1) Through the Spanish embassy in your home country, the process for obtaining the Digital Nomad Visa can take several months, and the initial residency card is typically issued for one year
2) Apply from within Spain, the decision is usually issued within approximately 20 days, and the initial residency card can be valid for up to three years.
This difference is due to variations in processing methods and Spanish immigration regulations.
